课程内容:

·An overview of economics for business and economic principles

·Consumer theory and demand behaviour

·Production theory and supply behaviour

·Perfectly competitive markets

·Monopolies, oligopolies and monopolistically competitive markets

·National income accounting

·Aggregate demand and supply and business cycles

·Monetary and fiscal policies

·Open economies (exports and imports, and exchange rates)


学习预期:

On completing this paper students will understand and be able to :

1.Define, explain and apply basic economic terms and concepts

2.Identify, explain and analyse different economic systems.

3.Evaluate and apply appropriate economic models in examining policy options related to economic issues

4.Apply demand and supply analysis to relevant economic behaviour and public policy

5.Apply marginal analysis to consumer and firm behaviour

6.Identify, analyse and evaluate various market structures

7.Analyse the causes and effects of changes in real GDP

8.Integrate the concept of macroeconomic equilibrium with the use of monetary and fiscal policies to counteract business cycles

9.Identify and analyse changes in the money supply and the effects of monetary policy on the New Zealand economy

10.Analyse the importance of international trade and foreign exchange markets to the New Zealand economy, and the effects of government policies on trade and exchange rates


学时安排:

150 hours, comprising 36 hours of class contact and 114 hours of self-directed study
